Description of Stewardship Resources
Our Stewardship Resources form the online training program within the Environmental Campus. The courses are divided into four main categories:
Water Quality and Use
Each of the above categories contain many courses that provide for a wide range of subject areas, or lessons, and each lesson includes several topics tied to the lesson's subject. The Stewardship Courses are designed to allow you to self-evaluate the environmental risk levels of current actions and home situations. When your actions or situation reveal a medium to high risk level, then best management practices are suggested to lower the environmental risk thus reducing pollutants from degrading our water and natural resources.
No Two People Learn in the Same Manner
- Some take the linear route; progressing from one lesson module to the next until they reach the end of the course.
- Others like to learn by exploring and will chose the lesson modules according to their interest or of which they have the least knowledge.
- And yet others take the risk assessment first to gauge where their highest risks are.
There are infinite combinations and variations of these styles as well.
The navigation on Environmental Campus has been designed to accommodate everyone. So don’t feel obligated to use the next button to advance from one learning object (page) to the next or to follow the lesson module menu from beginning to end.
As you complete a lesson module, you will notice that a check mark will appear next to it to let you know you have completed it. So once you have chosen a lesson module, you will have to close it to gain access to another lesson module.
The only thing you must do is complete the environmental risk assessment. You can take the risk assessment as many times as you like. Feedback offered in the assessment summary will give you an opportunity to jump back to the topic which supports the desired stewardship practice. You are encouraged to update the risk assessments as you adopt the best management practices suggested.
Each individual's information is confidential and intended for your own personal use only. The Michigan Water Stewardship Program (MWSP) is not a regulatory program. MWSP provides education and outreach information for those wishing to participate. The program is voluntary and confidential.
